How can I participate in this challenge?
The Winter Challenge is open to everyone worldwide. You must purchase a
ticket to participate.
2. When is the Winter Challenge?
The Winter Challenge kicks off on Thursday, January 1st at 12:00 am, and
lasts until Sunday, February 15th, 11:59 pm (GMT+2).
3. Do I need to purchase a ticket?
You can purchase your ticket via the Racemate app. Select the Winter
Challenge and follow the in-app instructions to join and pay. Choose
between the Entry package, which includes full access to the challenge
and digital badges, and the Entry plus Medal package for an added
commemorative medal. Once you have purchased your ticket successfully,
you will be able to see that you have joined the challenge and can start
participating.
*Your ticket is non-refundable.
4. How do I start the challenge?
Once you purchase the ticket from the Racemate app, you can press
“Start” from inside the challenge. You can also use the free run option.
Your distance will automatically get recorded and added to your total
distance for the challenge. You must run with your mobile phone while
using the Racemate app to record your distance.
5. What is a valid track?
– Run/Walk indoor or outdoor with your mobile phone using Racemate App.
– Complete a minimum distance of 500 meters in a single run.
– Have the phone in your pocket, armband, hand, or waist bag.
– Receive any phone calls via headphones or earbuds for best pace
reading.
*If any of these conditions are not met, your track will be invalid.
**Any tracks with an unrealistic pace that does not pass our validation
algorithm will be invalid.
6. What is a Virtual Challenge?
A Virtual Challenge is a running event that can be completed by
participants from any location, without the need for a physical presence
at a specific location or time. It allows you to run the challenge at
your convenience during the specified period of time.
7. Where can I find my virtual challenge results?
Once you complete a valid run, view your progress and the leaderboard
within your personal virtual challenge. A result screen and preliminary
leaderboard will be available for participants to view. The final
leaderboard will be available at the end of the challenge.
8. What are the prizes?
All participants who purchased the entry package plus medal will receive
a medal upon reaching Level 12 (covering a distance of 100 km).
Additionally, participants can look forward to special prizes from our
partners and sponsors.
The winners will also receive:
– A digital certificate featuring a winner badge and personalized KPIs.
– Special recognition on our social media channels.
– Placement on the competition’s leaderboard, which tracks and ranks
participants based on their pace, ultimately celebrating their
achievements and showcasing the champions across our platforms.
9. Shipment
Please ensure that your contact information and address are accurately
filled in when purchasing the ticket. Shipping costs for medals will
vary based on your location. Only participants who purchased the “Entry
plus Medal” package will be eligible to receive one. For those eligible,
the medal will be shipped within 10-21 days after the challenge ends.

Rick Worley was the reason for starting the Texas Marathon in 2000. He was working on setting a Guinness World Record for the most marathons on consecutive weekends

Rick Worley was the reason for starting the Texas Marathon in 2000. He was working on setting a Guinness World Record for the most marathons on consecutive weekends when he ran 200 in 159 consecutive weeks. There was not a marathon being held during the Christmas weekend in 1999, which would have broken Rick’s streak. We organized the Free Kingwood Marathon and held it on 12/26/99. Rick went to Ohio to run a series of marathons between Christmas and New Year’s. He needed a marathon on New Year’s Day and could only find a very difficult ultra marathon. We offered to organize another marathon six days after the Free Kingwood Marathon using the same course, with a new name, “Jammin’ in January” and held it on New Year’s Day. The race has been held on New Year’s Day every year since then. Rick completed the Texas Marathon four times and participated in it every year until 2006 when he injured his ankle. He completed 299 marathons including at least four in every state and also at least one on six continents. Rick Worley was tragically killed in a traffic accident on 7/25/10. We send our love to Rick’s family. We will miss Rick, his laugh and his love of friends, family and marathoning. . -paula&steve

The Palestine Marathon is an international running event that aims to build a strong running culture in Palestine while promoting cultural exchange, solidarity, and global awareness of Palestinian life. Bringing together thousands of local and international runners, the marathon highlights Palestinian culture, hospitality, and everyday realities, while contributing to the local economy and tourism sector. Since its early years, the event has grown rapidly, with participation rising to over 8,000 runners, nearly half of them women, and strong international representation. Officially recognized by the IAAF and AIMS, the marathon follows a unique 42.195 km course starting from Bethlehem’s Old City, passing through refugee camps and alongside the Wall, offering runners a challenging and unforgettable route. Beyond sport, the Palestine Marathon carries a powerful message about the right to freedom of movement. By running through spaces shaped by checkpoints and barriers, participants symbolically assert a fundamental human right that remains severely restricted for Palestinians. The event also serves as a platform for advocacy, with runners supporting causes related to human rights, women, children, and people with disabilities. This virtual race allows participants from across the globe to run from their own locations, making the event a powerful collective act that embodies the spirit of solidarity.
